Simplifying the Transfer Process
During your college career, you
may decide to transfer from one Oklahoma state college or university to
another. Information gathered by Oklahoma public colleges and universities
indicates that, based on junior- and senior-level grade point averages,
transfer students perform comparable to students who stay at the same
college or university.
As of spring 2005, 28 percent of the students who
entered a public or private two-year college in 2002 transferred to a public four-year institution, while 29 percent transferred from a public or private four-year school to a public two-year
school. Twenty-one percent moved from one public or private two-year college to a different public two-year college, and 22
percent transferred from one public or private four-year institution to a different public four-year institution.
Before you change schools, you should determine which
courses would transfer. To make the process easier, the State Regents
provide a course transfer matrix that outlines courses that will transfer
among Oklahoma's public colleges and universities. To view the transfer
matrix, click Course Transfer on the left menu. You can also contact the
college you plan to attend to find out what courses are required for the
major you have chosen.
