Preparing For College In High School
It's never too early to start
planning for college. Review the links provided at the top and on the
left to get information on high school courses to take, Oklahoma college
and university admission standards, college costs, college credit opportunities
for high school students and more.
Ask your counselor for your copy of the Do You Have a Plan for College? brochure and check out other helpful publications in your counselor's office. The publications are also available in the Publications section.
Think BIG! Head to a college campus next summer and participate in the 2010 Summer Academies in Math, Science and Technology. Students in the 8th-12th grades can explore forensic science, design a video game, build a robot and much more. And best of all, the academies are FREE! Check out academy descriptions and contact/application information and find out "Why Should You Attend a Summer Academy?"
We also recommend that you check out the Financial Aid link above for information on scholarships and grants administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, as well as information on student loans and the Oklahoma College Savings Program. Also, keep in mind that some need-based scholarships, such as Oklahoma's Promise, require students to sign up as early as 8th, 9th or 10th grade. Other scholarships and grants may require you to complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Click on Financial Aid for more information.
