REGENT JIMMY D. HARREL

Regent Jimmy D. Harrel

Jimmy D. Harrel is from Leedey, Okla., and was appointed to serve a nine-year term as a State Regent in May 1999 by Gov. Frank Keating.

Harrel is a rancher, farmer and banker. He is CEO and chairman of the board of directors of the Bank of Western Oklahoma in Elk City and Vici. He previously served as high school principal, vocational agriculture instructor and basketball coach at Taloga Public Schools.

Harrel earned a bachelor's degree in animal science and vocational agriculture education from Oklahoma State University. He currently serves as a member of the lieutenant governor’s Business Advisory Council and has served on a number of boards and committees, including the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Oklahoma Board of Agriculture, and the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma A&M Colleges. He participates in a number of community activities, such as the Masonic Lodges of Leedey and Elk City, the chambers of commerce of Leedey and Elk City, the American Quarter Horse Association and the OSU Alumni Association.

Harrel and his wife Marilyn are the parents of a daughter, Keela Terry, who resides in Elk City with her husband and family.
