Abdulhamid Sukar is a professor of economics at Cameron University. He received a Ph.D. in economics from Texas Tech University, an M.A. in economics from West Texas A&M University and B.S. in statistics from Addis Ababa University.
Sukar was a co-founder and research coordinator at Cameron Business Research center (1991-2000). He has served as a co-editor of the Southwest Business and Economic Journal and presented numerous business forums. He has developed regional economic indicators and collaborated in various local and regional economic development projects. He also serves as a faculty consultant to the Business Research Center.
Sukar’s research interest includes international trade and finance, economic growth and development, and regional economics. He has published more than 30 scholarly articles in academic journals such as The Journal of Economics, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, Global Finance, Southwest Economic Review, The International Journal of Economic Research, Journal of Applied Business Research and Asian Economic Review.
Sukar has received numerous awards, including the Frank Stiendl Award in Monetary Economics at Texas Tech, Southwest Oklahoma Advanced Technology Distinguished Research Award and School of Business Lifetime Research Award. Dr. Sukar was also awarded Fulbright Senior Research Scholar in 1999.
