Dr. Mixon earned a Doctor of Education in higher education administration with an emphasis in business from Oklahoma State University in 1984; a Master of Science in business education from OSU in 1977; and a Bachelor of Science from Grambling State University in 1976.
Mixon has taught business education at East Central University since 1978 and is currently a full professor within the School of Business. Courses she has taught include business communication and report writing along with other business education and technology courses. She recently completed a three-year term as the director of the Oscar Parker Ethics Center at ECU. She is also currently the chair of the Business Education and Office Technology Department.
Mixon served as a mentor for participants in the Preparing Today's Teachers for Tomorrow (PT3) grant program in 2003-2004. The Oklahoma Business Education Association selected her as the Outstanding Business Educator of the Year in the College/University division in 1992.
Mixon was recently appointed to serve as the director of the Adult Degree Completion Program, Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership, at ECU and will also teach the Foundations of Organizational Leadership and Personal Development course for the program.
