Dr. Kathy Harris has taught at Northwestern Oklahoma State University since 1992 as professor of business and e-commerce and chair of the business, e-commerce and agriculture departments. Prior to 1992, she was a high school business teacher and worked in real estate, insurance and sales. In addition, her experience includes being owner/operator of her own brick and mortar business and her own e-commerce business.
Harris has a bachelor's in business education, a master's in education and a master's in business administration from Phillips University and a doctorate of education in curriculum instruction and educational development from Oklahoma State University. Areas of emphasis during her studies included business, education, computers, English, management, marketing, higher education curriculum and technology.
She is also the recipient of numerous awards, including Outstanding BEA Professor 2005–06;"Women of Recognition 2005 - Educational Development," American Association of University Women; "Outstanding Enid Educator," Enid News & Eagle; 'Teacher of the Year for Senior Colleges and Universities," Oklahoma Business Education Association; and American Business Women’s Citation.
Harris has taught courses in business communications, business policy, leadership, management, marketing, e-commerce and international business.
When not teaching at NWOSU, she enjoys church and volunteer work, exercising three to five days a week at 6 a.m., quilting and enjoying her five grandchildren (with the latest addition being triplets).
