What is the next step in your career? When is the right time for you to move to your next position? How do you write an effective cover letter and resume/CV? Earl Nightingale once said, “The biggest mistake you can make is to believe that you are working for somebody else…The driving force of your career must come from the individual. Remember: Jobs are owned by the company, you own your career!”
This workshop prepared participants to expertly maneuver through the search process, by rediscovering their moral compass and developing an arsenal of tools, including strategies to create winning cover letters and CVs, to navigate the complexities of the interview process, to take control of the negotiation process and to establish a successful transition. Based on the book that she co-authored with Nancy Archer Martin, Career Aspirations & Expeditions: Advancing Your Career in Higher Education Administration, Dr. Jennifer Bloom presented this hands-on and engaging workshop designed to help participants successfully manage their careers.
The workshop was held at the University of Central Oklahoma in the Will Rogers Room (#421) on Thursday, Nov. 20 from 1-5 p.m., with a concluding dinner at 6:30 p.m.
