Oklahoma Global Education

“Recognizing the importance of Oklahoma’s international connections, teachers must equip students with greater international knowledge and skills in order to compete in the global economy.”
— Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry
WHAT'S NEW? The fourth annual Governor’s Global Education Conference, sponsored by the Wes Watkins Center, will be hosted by Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., Feb. 9. 2010. For additional information, save-the-date postcard and online registration, visit the GEC Web pages.
The focus of global education is the relationship of the world's cultures and systems and the connections of human beings and their common fate, regardless of the national boundaries within which they live.
Our diverse Oklahoma education heritage has been forged by challenges and a pioneering spirit. From one-room schoolhouses to our modern classrooms that are some of the nation's most technologically advanced, Oklahoma educators always look beyond the horizon.
Our learners rely on digitized formats to access information and participate in globalized commerce. There is a whole new world to learn about – one in which we are more acutely aware and engaged. As educators and learners, we are also ambassadors who manifest the intent of our schooling systems and share fundamental traits of our communities by providing our students with wider and deeper international knowledge.
