The public sector institutions have shown a 9.7 percent increase in annual FTE enrollments from 2001-02 to 2005-06 and a 0.9 percent decrease from 2004-05 to 2005-06. The research universities had a 8.9 percent FTE increase from 2000-01 to 2004-05. Regional universities increased 7.3 percent and community colleges increased 13.3 percent.

Five-Year Comparison of Annual FTE Enrollments at Public Institutions.
In 2001-02 Research was 45,140, Regional was 43,175 and Community was 40,210.
In 2002-03 Research was 48,204, Regional was 44,912 and Community was 42,951.
In 2003-04 Research was 48,860, Regional was 45,073 and Community was 45,326.
In 2004-05 Research was 49,444, Regional was 46,689 and Community was 46,201.
In 2005-06 Research was 49,171, Regional was 46,330 and Community was 45,539.

Annual Public Unduplicated Headcount Enrollment By Gender 2005-06.  Male was 100,401 and Female was 135,329.
