Rose State PR director named NCMPR 'Communicator of the Year'
Vicki Patterson, director of marketing and public relations at Rose State College, has been selected as the 2004 District 4 Communicator of the Year of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). Patterson will be recognized during the NCMPR District 4 conference, Reaching the Summit, October 24-26 in Colorado Springs, Colo. One of the most celebrated awards given to an NCMPR member, the Communicator of the Year Award honors a two-year college marketing professional who has demonstrated special leadership or ability in college communications. The award is given annually in each of NCMPR's seven districts, and district recipients automatically become a nominee for the national award, which is presented at the national conference. NCMPR District 4 consists of schools in Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. Patterson has served as director of Marketing and PR for Rose State since December 1999. In 2004, she served as both president of the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association and as chairperson of the State Communicator's Council, an advisory panel to the Oklahoma State Regents. Before joining Rose State, Patterson was director of university relations at Oklahoma City University. She has worked in public and private secondary schools for over 20 years, 15 of those in Oklahoma as a teacher, administrator and consultant for the Norman and Mid-Del districts. Her college-level teaching has been in the areas of public speaking and freshman composition. She has also worked for Arkansas Educational Television, a PBS affiliate, and served as a consultant on business communications, team building, marketing and public relations for a variety of private businesses, government and civic groups. |
