SWOSU flag flying in Iraq
Southwestern Oklahoma State University has a flag flying in Baghdad, Iraq. Captain David Roys, who is currently serving in Iraq with the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, recently asked SWOSU President John Hays for a SWOSU flag to adorn a dining facility in Baghdad. Several of the service members decided to contact their alma maters to get flags to decorate the facility. Not all of the universities responded but the ones that did now have their flags adorning the walls and ceiling. SWOSU is one of approximately 25 universities represented. “We appreciate David for including SWOSU in this project,” Hays said. “We are honored and wish the very best to all of our soldiers who are fighting battles across the world.” Roys earned his undergraduate degree from SWOSU in 1990 and his master of business administration degree in 1992.
