Murray State College selects 19th president

The Board of Regents of Murray State College recently announced that Dr. Noble Jobe has been named the 19th president of Murray State College.

Jobe’s extensive experience in education began with an associate degree in secondary education with an emphasis in biology from Rose State College, Midwest City in 1987. After completing a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in biology from East Central University, Ada, in 1989, Jobe obtained a Master of Science in zoology from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, in 1991, as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy in zoology from OSU in 1995.

His primary field of study included undergraduate science education, limnology and environmental toxicology.

President Jobe began his teaching career in the Math/Science Tutoring Lab for Student Support Services with ECU in August, 1987.

During his graduate studies, he worked as a research assistant, teaching assistant, research associate and acting director with the Water Quality Research Lab at OSU, as well as serving interim instructor positions with the department of zoology at OSU.

Upon completion of his doctoral work with OSU, his teaching appointments included Assistant and Associate Professor and Chair of Natural Sciences for Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tenn., and as Assistant Professor of Biology with Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Mo. In 2002, he began his career with Murray State College as a biology instructor. In August 2007, Jobe was appointed Interim Provost for MSC.

His professional and volunteer services include the National Association of Biology Teachers, Oklahoma Clean Lakes and Watersheds Association, FFA contest and Oklahoma State Science Fair judging, Little League Softball, Audubon Society, Tishomingo Lions Club, and the Johnston County Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Jobe’s wife, Donna, is a counselor with Student Support Services for MSC.
