Four Southwestern Oklahoma State University biology students in Weatherford and Dr. Andrea Holgado, SWOSU assistant professor, presented their research findings at the recent 2010 Society for Neuroscience annual meeting in San Diego.

Carissa Fischer of Weatherford; Erica Benda of Yukon; and Taylor Baxter and Tyler Hardin of Broken Arrow, accompanied Holgado to the meeting that brought together 31,975 neuroscientists from around the world. The annual meeting is the premier venue for the neuroscientists to debut cutting-edge research. Among the topics this year were learning, memory, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and many more neurological disorders.

The SWOSU research group contributed to the discussion, presenting novel findings linked to neuronal communication and molecular mechanisms underlying this process.
