TCC Encourages Entrepreneurs With Launch

Tulsa Community College kicked off its first cohort of emerging entrepreneurs in the Center for Creativity at TCC’s Metro Campus May 3. Launch: Your Entrepreneurial Journey, Powered by TCC, is an educational program designed to accelerate the start-up process required to build a company.

The program is made up of 16 weekly business-building sessions that guide 15 entrepreneurs through the critical steps required to take an idea to the marketplace. At the end of the program, entrepreneurs will have an operating business and/or a prototype.

“Future jobs in Tulsa will come from the innovating spirit of entrepreneurs,” said Mary Philpott, TCC Dean of Workforce Development Programs. “TCC has stepped up and created a start-up program that will support entrepreneurs to learn the relevant skills needed to build a new business, ultimately accelerating the growth of new companies and jobs.”

Among the sessions are Visualizing the Steps to Starting Your Business, Building Your Business Model, Understanding Your Market Through Research, Naming and Branding Your Company, Building Your Revenue Model and much more. The program will conclude with the New Business Launch Celebration Aug. 19.

Nearly 70 entrepreneurs applied for the program, which is limited to 15 participants. The program will reopen applications for its second cohort this fall.
