SWOSU President John Hays Plans to Retire
Dr. John Hays, president of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, plans to retire at the end of January 2010. Hays, who has served as president of his alma mater since 2001, has worked a total of 30 years at SWOSU, having served as assistant business manager, comptroller, assistant to the president, vice president for administration and executive vice president for administration. Hays is a 1969 accounting graduate of SWOSU. He has been very active in community and economic development activities around Oklahoma and has been on the ground floor of many projects in western Oklahoma. He is the recipient of numerous awards and is highly respected for his work in Oklahoma higher education and various professional organizations. The Board of Regents of the Regional University System of Oklahoma, the governing board of SWOSU, has started the search process for SWOSU’s 17th president.
