![]() Oklahoma City Community College and the City of Oklahoma City have begun the construction of a storm water retention/detention facility on the northeast corner of the College campus near Southwest 74 and May Avenue. Wittwer Construction Company will manage the $1.2 million project. The drainage improvement project is of significant interest to the City. The storm water runoff generated from residential areas of the south and east of the College drain through the campus. When complete, the project will provide for storm water detention to accommodate the current and future drainage improvement needs of the City and the College. Wittwer Construction estimates that 225,000 cubic yards of dirt will be excavated over the course of the next 10 to 12 weeks. The College's responsibility in this project is to provide an easement to the City for the construction, provide $100,000 of Section 13 Offset Funds for construction, and the long-term maintenance of the property. The retention pond will include a fountain and jogging and walking trails. The project began in August with projected completion in six months. Contact: Jessica Martinez-Brooks, 1-405-682-7590
