The Art of the Drum

SWOSU
March 1

In this new production from Columbia Artists in New York City, athletic bodies and contemporary costumes meet explosive Taiko drumming and innovative choreography in a show that has extraordinary precision, energy and stamina. With hundreds of sold-out shows and more than a million spectators, TAO has proven that modern entertainment based on the traditional art of Japanese drumming has massive international appeal.

The Art of the Drum will appear as part of the SWOSU Panorama series on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford campus. Advance tickets are $10 for the general public and available for purchase by calling (580) 774-3019. School groups can purchase tickets for $5.

The stars of TAO live and train at a compound in the mountains of Japan, reaching the highest level of virtuosity only after years of intensive study. They offer a young and vibrantly modern take on a traditional art form.
