Giving Voice to Northeastern Oklahoma: 2010 Regional Economic Summit

Hosted by SACC-EZ, Cherokee Nation and Northeastern State University

When:

Oct. 26, 2010 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., networking reception/entertainment begins at 5 p.m.

Oct. 27, 2010 - 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: Northeastern State University, University Center Herb Rozell Ballroom, Tahlequah

What: Working summit to encourage leaders in northeast Oklahoma to cross traditional boundaries, forge new relationship, and collaborate creatively to build the region and strengthen communities. This years event will focus on engaging community leaders in finalizing and adopting a regional strategic plan. Leaders will also commit to returning to their communities to begin community planning at Regional planning and collaboration increases visibility at the state and federal level and improves resource sharing for our communities, and improves our way of life by establishing region-wide support systems.

Why: Come review, finalize, and adopt the Northeastern Oklahoma Regional Plan, which will include short- and long-range goals and action steps necessary to achieve our shared agenda through shared commitment and shared leadership. Network with leaders from throughout northeastern Oklahoma. Obtain planning tools and resources to take back to your community to begin community planning efforts.

Agenda: Interactive agenda with opportunities for you to provide input and to adopt the regional strategic plan; opportunities to network and create regional partnerships; opportunities to learn community planning techniques and obtain community planning tools; and opportunities to connect with federal, state, and tribal resources.

Who Should Attend: All who are interested in improvingthe regional economy and well being--focusing on the 14 counties of Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Delaware, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okmulgee, Ottawa, Rogers, Sequoyah, Wagoner, and Washington; includingstate and federal legislators, county governments, city governments, Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Chambers of Commerce, industrial authorities, economic development organizations, educators, business leaders, non-profit organizations,community members and volunteers.
