| EVENT: Research Conference at OSU-Tulsa Graduate students and faculty from universities across the nation will gather at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa Oct. 29-30 to share presentations on educational research. During their annual conference, members of the Rocky Mountain Educational Research Association (RMERA) will use a variety of creative or nontraditional presentation techniques to share their findings on current or on-going research activity. A few of the presentation topics to be presented include, “The Influence of Teacher Preparation on Student Achievement,” “A Comparison Study of Student Achievement Scores with the ATLAS Delivery Model vs. a Traditional Teaching Model,” and “Cultural Attitudes and Appreciation Levels of Early Childhood Faculty and Teachers in Oklahoma.” Presentations will include a description of the presenter’s research subject and summaries of their data collection, instrumentation methods, analysis, results and implications of the study. A question and answer period will follow each presentation. RMERA is an educational organization whose purpose is to encourage quality educational research and to promote the application of the results of such research in schools, said Lana Turner, OSU-Tulsa community relations manager. “Community members and educators attending this conference will receive a wealth of valuable and relevant information on topics such as enhancing the quality of teachers, determining learning styles of students and how to use this information to facilitate learning,” Turner said. On Oct. 29 at 12 p.m., OSU education professors Dr. Gary Conti and Dr. Lynna Ausburn, will present information on “Creating a Community of Researchers.” The professors will demonstrate how a programmatic line of inquiry has developed around the topic of learning strategies with adult learners. During this session, attendees will not only discover their own personal learning strategy, but also learn how this line of inquiry has involved faculty, graduate students and colleagues in an ongoing community of research. The RMERA conference, sponsored by OSU-Tulsa and Southern Nazarene University, will be held in OSU-Tulsa Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Oct. 30. The conference is open to the public. The registration fee is $25, which includes a luncheon on the opening day of the conference. To register or for more information, call 918-594-8328. |
