EVENT: OSU "Performing Revolution: Experiments in Russian Stage Design" John Bowlt, a professor of Slavic languages and literatures at the University of Southern California, will lecture on “Performing Revolution: Experiments in Russian Stage Design” at 7 pm. on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Wes Watkins Center at Oklahoma State University. The lecture is part of the Converse-Yates-Cate International Lectureship in the Humanities, Society and Religion coordinated by Keith Tribble, professor of Russian in the foreign languages and literatures department at OSU. Bowlt, who received the Fulbright Award for his study of the work of Leon Bakst in Russia for 2007 to 2008, studies the history of late 19th and early 20th Century Russian art. He is internationally recognized as one of the foremost authorities on Russian avant-garde art with a particular specialization in Russian theatrical design.
