EVENT: Unseen Cinema at OSU-Tulsa This fall, skip the forgettable, big-budget movies and treat yourself to a unique series of foreign, fine art and obscure films that have not been previously released in Oklahoma. For the seventh consecutive year, Oklahoma State University and the Cinema Arts Foundation will sponsor Unseen Cinema on the OSU campuses in Tulsa and Stillwater. All film showings are free and open to the public. “Gun Crazy,” directed by Joseph H. Lewis, will be shown Sept. 25 in Tulsa and Sept. 29 in Stillwater. Hopelessly linked by their fetish for guns, British trick-shooter Annie Laurie Starr and small-town delinquent Bart Tare embark on a blood-spattered, cross-country crime spree. “Hyenas” depicts the homecoming of a rich and worldly benefactress whose former suitor is appointed mayor of her remote, poverty-stricken desert village in an attempt to encourage her generosity. In a darkly comic twist, it becomes clear that she fully intends to share her millions with the village, in exchange for a particular favor. Directed by Djibril Diop Mambety, “Hyenas” will be shown Oct. 23 in Tulsa and Oct. 27 in Stillwater. The final film in the series, “Gates of Heaven,” will be shown Dec. 4 in Tulsa and Dec. 1 in Stillwater. The first film of Oscar-winning documentarian Errol Morris is a hilarious and poignant look at pets and the people who bury them. All Tulsa showings will be at 2 p.m. in the OSU-Tulsa Auditorium, 700 North Greenwood Avenue in Tulsa. The film series will be shown at 7 p.m. in 110 Auditorium, Wes Watkins Center in Stillwater. For more information, call 918-594-8252 in Tulsa or 405-744-5647 in Stillwater. |
