EVENT: Rose State Live! DATE: Sept. 14-Nov. 5
Taking the stage Oct. 1 at 8 p.m., Margaret Cho’s new show is a mix of new stand-up and live music. Cho will be showcasing songs from her forthcoming comedy album along with her distinctive material that’s developed a cult following through tours, concert films and TV specials. Cho’s trademark raunchy, socially relevant and politically charged comedy at Rose State Live! follow her fifth stand up concert film, Beautiful, and her new dramatic series, Drop Dead Diva, on Lifetime. Cho’s Rose State Live! show is for mature audiences only. Tickets go on sale at the Civic Center Box Office at 10 a.m. August 4. Go For Baroque Sept. 14 is an eclectic jazz/classical ensemble featuring seven accomplished Oklahoma musicians. Go For Baroque will perform their new program, “Route 66: El Camino a la Fiesta.” (The Road to the Fiesta), a musical exploration of Latino rhythms found along Route 66, for people of all ages and all backgrounds. Horseshoe Road is Nov. 5. With an eclectic musical style ranging from Blues to Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz to Western Swing, Country, Rock and Gospel, Horseshoe Road blends them into an earthy genre of music they call, Heartland Acoustic. World-renowned fiddle sensation and Oklahoma Musical Ambassador, Kyle Dillingham, heads the band Dillingham has been featured on the Grand Ole Opry, has been on national television in China and has performed with Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Toby Keith, and Joe Diffie, to name a few. In 2008, Horseshoe Road completed a U.S. Embassy sponsored tour of Thailand, which commemorated the 175th anniversary of relations between the United States of America and the Kingdom of Thailand. It was the first time an American band had ever performed in four of the five cities they visited in Thailand.
