EVENT: Rose State College Prepares for Grand Opening of the Professional Training and Eduction Center Rose State College will host a grand opening ceremony for its $7.65 million Professional Training and Education Center. The ceremony will take place on the corner of Hudiburg Drive and College Avenue on Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m. The 32,000-square foot Professional Training and Education Center meets the needs not only of RSC students; it also offers the most current technologically advanced training and educational opportunities to Tinker Air Force Base, business and industry, and the entire community. The facility features a tiered auditorium seating 98, as well as nine additional classrooms and a multi-purpose classroom that can be divided into two or four instructional areas. Additional gathering areas are available for students, including lounge areas and group study rooms. The facility incorporates advanced classroom technology and wireless computer access. “The idea of the Center is to have a versatile and flexible training space for workshops and seminars,” said Dr. Frances Hendrix, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs/Technical Programs. “We want to be industry friendly. What you’ll find in the Professional Training and Education Center is state of the art and not your typical classroom setting. Although Rose State has a rich tradition of providing educational opportunities, it is also an emerging resource for world-class training programs.” Stan Greil, Dean of Corporate Relations & Workforce Education, believes the Center will be the premiere employee development facility in Oklahoma. “We are prepared to exceed the expectations of local firms and agencies by providing a variety of top-notch training programs ranging from cyber security, customer service, leadership, utility operator certification, small business management, teacher in-service workshops and web-based learning systems to name just a few.” The open house celebrates the commitment of the community. In December 2004, voters in the Rose State College Technical Area Education District approved a $7.65 million, 10-year bond issue to pay for the center.
