EVENT: NSU announces "Stars in the Summer" concert series
The stars will come out June 14 when the 2007 Northeastern State University Stars in the Summer Series premiers. Featuring Downtown Country and River City Players, the summer music extravaganza will delight music lovers of all ages with a blend of country and rock performances. “No matter what age, people will find something to love at the Stars in the Summer Series,” said Megan White, director of the Sequoyah Institute. “We have everything from toe-tapping, chart-topping country hits to high-energy, edge-of-your-seat dance hits.” The RCP cast will perform two shows this summer, “Rockin’ Across the USA!” and “Old Time Rock ‘N Roll.” Rockin’ Across the USA! features rock music from across the country, while Old Time Rock ‘N Roll highlights the greatest hits from the inception of rock ‘n roll. Rockin’ Across the USA! runs Thursdays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Shawnee Street Theatre. Old Time Rock ‘N Roll runs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. at the Shawnee Street Theatre. The DTC cast is rehearsing for two new shows this year, “Chart Toppin’ Country” and “Celebrate Oklahoma.” Chart Toppin’ Country brings to stage country music’s greatest hits, while Celebrate Oklahoma features the music of Oklahoma to honor the state’s centennial. Chart Toppin’ Country runs Thursdays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. at the University Playhouse. Celebrate Oklahoma runs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. at the University Playhouse. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for NSU alumni and employees, $8 for seniors, and $6 for students, children and groups of 20 or more. For reservations, call (918) 458-2075.
