| EVENT: Writers festival coming to SWOSU Southwestern Oklahoma State University will host the annual Westview Writers Festival on Tuesday, March 21, on the Weatherford campus. Sandy Longhorn, winner of the 2005 Anhinga Prize for Poetry, will be the featured writer at the festival that will take place at 7 p.m. in the SWOSU Conference Center. Admission is free, and the public is invited. Kevin Collins, associate professor in the SWOSU Language Arts Department, said Longhorn’s first book, Blood Almanac, will be released later this year. Longhorn has had 33 poems published in various journals including very recent publications in Connecticut Review, Black Warrior Review, Free Verse, Gulf Coast, Hotel Amerika, Midwest Quarterly and Smartish Place.
