| EVENT: NOC Rebud Jazz Festival Northern Oklahoma College’s ninth annual Redbud Jazz Festival will feature “some of the strongest and freshest talent that the festival has had in years,” according to Festival Director Dr. Michael Moore. Guests appearing at the Redbud Jazz Concert Friday, April 2, include keyboard artist Pamela York, whose tour of the USA festival scene has included this year’s Southwestern Jazz Festival at Weatherford. Trombonist Paul McKee will display the virtuosity and taste that made him a featured player with the Woody Herman Orchestra. The famous and fabulous Bob Bowman will bring his exciting bass work to the stage and New York guitarist Freddie Bryant will round out the lineup of stars. Two high school Representative Bands of the Day, selected by clinicians during competitions during the festival, and the Northern Jazz will open the concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Northern Performing Arts Center. Guest artists, backed by the Redbud Festival Ensemble directed by Moore, will take the stage for the headliner portion of the concert at 8 p.m. General admission is $7.50.
