EVENT: Poetry at Rose Original poetry by faculty at Rose State College will be presented during the Poetry at Rose reading, Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. in the H.B. Atkinson Theatre on campus. Hosted by the Humanities Division, the annual event will also highlight the student winners of the James Axley Fiction and Poetry Award competition. They are: Aimee Michelle Acree, Brenda Cobbs, Patrick Arnn Hixon, James Edward Stichka, Sarah Thompson and Sheila Tiarks. Rose State faculty members reading this year are Steve Beeney, Jim Hochtritt, Debbie Ingle, Kate McIntire and Carl Sennhenn. Guest poet is Oklahoma Poet Laureate Fran Ringold, a professor at the University of Tulsa. Rose State music instructors Bernard Jones and Emily Robinson will provide music. A reception sponsored by Houghton Mifflin will follow in the Student Center and a short collection of several poems read during the evening will be distributed free of charge.
