Three cadets in the Army ROTC program were recognized for outstanding leadership and military skills on Aug. 27. From left are Lt. Col. Jeff Hensley who heads the ROTC battalion at OSU, Cadets John Andrews, Stephen Gagnon and Troy Duerr, OSU President Burns Hargis and OSU Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Peter M.A. Sherwood. Andrews, a university studies senior from Elgin, Okla. and Gagnon, a construction management technology senior from Tulsa, Okla., each received the Association of U.S. Army 2008 Outstanding Cadet Award. Duerr, a fire protection and safety technology senior from Ripon, Calif., earned the Sinclair L. Melner Award for outstanding performance. The honor is part of a nationwide consolidated leadership development and assessment course at Fort Lewis, Wash. More than 5,500 cadets attended the training. OSU was the only university in the nation to have multiple award winners. |
