Nick Ramos, a participant in the Texas County Upward Bound Program's summer camp held on the OPSU campus, is part of the Lincoln presidential group. He is dressed in a hat and a faux-fur, knee-length coat as the campers headed out to produce a video based on our 16th president.
Camp participants spent six weeks living on campus during the week. This year, the campers focused on historical presidencies and were divided into four family groups to research each of the presidents featured on Mount Rushmore – George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The curriculum included thought-provoking assignments such as a debate of presidential qualities and discussion of which four presidents might be featured if Mount Rushmore was built today.
