Rose State Student Senators Logan Reynolds and Ali Morris prepare packages for overseas troops. During the spring 2005 semester, the RSC Student Senate felt the best way to show their respect and appreciation to troops overseas was to send care packages with personal notes. The Senate raised $2,000 through a car show, Operation We Support You t-shirts and We Support You bracelet sales. The students also solicited items from students, faculty and staff to send to the troops. On May 25, students packed 80 care packages with items such as socks, disposable cameras, card games, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors, books, snacks, pre-sweetened drink mixes and notes from students at the College’s adopted schools Willow Brook and Telstar Elementary. Funds raised were used for postage and to purchase some of the items.
