Charity Nelson of Stratford, a December 2003 graduate of East Central University, was recently commissioned into the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps as a lieutenant junior grade during the first-ever USPHS commissioning ceremony held at ECU. Nelson, who graduated from ECU's Environmental Health Science Program, was assigned to the Indian Health Service in Pawnee where she works on a variety of environmental health issues in conjunction with the Pawnee Tribe.
