Children's Theatre at Eastern Oklahoma State College was recently honored with the Governor's Arts and Education Award for 2004. Accepting the honor at the CTW Showcase performance, Friday, Jan. 28 are (left to right) Sue Jeffrey, Wilburton Elementary School principal, representing the public school districts that support the program, Pat Thomas, Eastern faculty, representing both the school and the parents who helped start the children's theatre program, Jean Bell, retired teacher, representing the American Association of University Women who co-sponsored the program for many years, and Ruth Askew Brelsford, theatre instructor at Eastern. More than 140,000 children have seen live plays in the last 37 years through this effort which is one of the longest-running children's theatre programs in the state.
