From its roots as the Cherokee National Female Seminary, Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, has long been a frontrunner in education, particularly teacher education. With 400 educators graduating from NSU’s teaching program this year alone, NSU has trained the most teachers in the state and is confident that their caliber is unparalleled. The latest Title II Report, given at the Oklahoma State Board of Education meeting last fall, commended NSU for producing the most educators in the state and for the 96 percent passing rate the teaching candidates maintained. Nearly doubling the amount of graduates of the nearest competitor and maintaining an excellent pass rate, NSU produces not only the most educators in the state, but the very best teachers possible.
