ECU first in state, few in nation to embed service learning in curriculum Next fall, East Central University will become the only university in Oklahoma and one of the few in the country where service-learning will be embedded into the academic curriculum. All beginning freshmen will be included in the new 30-hour requirement which can be met by taking two regular courses with a service-learning designation. Read more. SWOSU student surprised with car Southwestern Oklahoma State University student Lisa Grossenbacher of Weatherford has some new wheels. Thanks to the efforts of the SWOSU Social Work Association, the junior special needs student now has a car that will get her around the Weatherford area. The presentation of a 2000 silver Plymouth Neon was made at a heart-touching ceremony recently on the SWOSU campus. Read more. Cameron University President Cindy Ross announced the establishment of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Scholarship recently during a formal signing held at the Center for Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurial Studies (CETES) on CU's main campus. In a time when comic book superheroes of every form and fashion are hitting movie theatres across the country, Hollywood's newest antidote may come in the form of "Bluesman," a gritty, southern guitarist with a song to sing and a story to tell. If writer Rob Vollmar has anything to do with it, his graphic novel's character will make it all the way to the big screen. Read more.
