June 29, 2004 :: McHenry Named State Regents’ New Academic Chief
Dr. William E. McHenry has been appointed vice chancellor of academic affairs for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the State Regents announced recently. He began his duties June 10.
“We are very fortunate to have Dr. McHenry on our staff,” Chancellor Paul G. Risser said. “He brings a wealth of higher education experience and expertise to student preparation and student affairs, as well as collegiate academic issues.”
McHenry previously served as assistant commissioner for academic and student affairs for the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, the governing board for Mississippi’s public universities.
Prior to joining the MIHL, McHenry spent six years as a program officer for the National Science Foundation in Arlington, Va. He also served on the chemistry faculty at Mississippi State University and as associate dean of the MSU graduate school.
McHenry, whose research interests are in organophosphorous chemistry and flash thermolysis, serves on various national boards and committees that are dedicated to helping students gain access to different careers, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
