Why: To discuss legislative agenda, review the impact of the Higher Education Reauthorization Act’s impact on student safety issues, and behavioral threat assessment training and exercises to take place early in 2009
Background: Gov. Brad Henry created CLASS by an Executive Order in April 2007 following the Virginia Tech shootings. On Feb. 12, 2008, at the request of the task force, Gov. Henry extended the activities of the task force for the purpose of implementing the recommendations of its final report and continuing to review and evaluate safety and security at higher education and career technology campuses and make recommendations for modifications as needed.
