September 30, 2003 :: Middle School and High School Students Will Benefit from Online Chat
Mapping Your Future, a public service Web site providing college, career, financial aid, and financial literacy information and services, will offer an online chat session for middle and high school students from 6-7 p.m., Oct. 7.
This live chat, titled "Finding the School of Your Dreams and Gaining Admission,” will provide a unique opportunity to receive advice on the college admissions and financial aid processes. The interactive event is designed to help students navigate through what some consider a maze of career, college and financial aid information - all from the privacy and convenience a personal computer.
During this chat, students and their families will learn more about:
- preparing academically for college;
- applying to a college;
- considering different types of colleges;
- selecting a college;
- completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
- determining eligibility for federal student aid; and
- choosing payment options.
Other special chats scheduled for the fall include evening chats on loan consolidation Nov. 4 and student loan forgiveness, cancellation and discharge Dec. 9.
Anyone with Internet access can join the chat by visiting www.mapping-your-future.org. Simple instructions will show you how to join in on the discussion.
