WHY GET INVOLVED IN ACE AND LEAP?

Why Do Teachers Use ACE and LEAP?

“ACE is a course for mature students who want to investigate the teaching profession through real-life classroom experience. ACE students not only learn about the teaching profession but have theopportunity to give back to the youth of their communities.”

“I just had a former ACE student stop by this afternoon. Because of ACE, he is joining the Air Force to become an instructor, and when he finishes with the Air Force, he will go to college to become a high school teacher. How COOL is that!! This is one more kid that had the capacity but not the wherewithal to go to college, but thanks to “this class,” he’s decided to teach!”
– Kathleen Lott, Oklahoma City Public Schools

“LEAP gives my students tools for success and confidence to use them.”
– Diana Childs, Nathan Hale High School, Tulsa

“The LEAP curriculum has provided our students with skills to write SMART goals, to use planners efficiently and to work effectively in small groups.”
– Elaine Freeman, Oklahoma City Public Schools

What Do Students Think?

Picture of student in class."When I started the school year, I had not really ever thought about being a teacher. After thinking a lot and trying to decide what I did want to be, the ACE class helped me realize that I would love to be a science teacher. The ACE class helped me to really see what it is like to be a teacher."
– Brandy, Byng High School

"This class has helped me to better understand what teachers experience in the everyday classroom and has made me consider being a teacher later on in life!" Brent, Midwest City High School

“LEAP is a great program for freshman students because it helps students stay positive and keep their grades up.”
– Douglas, Nathan Hale High School, Tulsa

“I have made better grades on my tests in other classes because of what I have learned in LEAP.”
– Roger, Nathan Hale High School, Tulsa
