Governor Signs Final Higher Education Appropriation: On Friday, June 8, Governor Keating signed the last bill containing additional state appropriations for higher education. HB 1570 appropriated $24.1 million for higher education purposes. All together, higher education was appropriated $860.6 million for FY2002, an increase of $44.4 million, or 5.4%, over FY2001. The appropriations were contained in five different bills—SB 239, SB 310, HB 1505, HB 1564, and HB 1570.
