Legislator Complains About UCO
Funding Level: On Tuesday,
Rep. Leonard Sullivan (R – Oklahoma City) held a press conference and issued a
press release claiming that the per-student funding level at the University of

Bill
Requires Campus Police to Store Biological Evidence: On Tuesday, Governor Keating signed HB
1373, which requires law enforcement agencies, including campus police, to
retain and preserve biological evidence related to a violent felony
offense. The evidence must be preserved
for the period of time that the person convicted of the crime remains
incarcerated.

Governor
Vetoes Career-Technology Task Force:
On Monday, Governor Keating vetoed HB 1914, which would have created the
Task Force on Career-Technology Professional Certification. The purpose of the task force was “to study
the procedures and standards of professional certification of career-technology
educators and to prepare recommendations for legislative and other action
needed.” The Governor’s brief veto
message stated:
"I have vetoed HB 1914 because this bill which
creates the Task Force on Career-Technology Professional Certification lacks
sufficient representation of the executive branch of government."
