Highlights This Week:

 

 

Tuition Authority Bill Fails in the Senate:  On Tuesday, the Senate defeated SB 580 by a vote of 18 yes, 26 no.  The language in the bill would have removed existing legislative limits on tuition and fees and thereby would have left discretion to Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to establish tuition and fee rates (bill text:  http://www2.lsb.state.ok.us/2001-02SB/sb580_sflr.rtf ).

 

The 18 “Yes” votes included 8 Democrats and 10 Republicans:
