Highlights This Week:
House Committee Rejects Faculty Employment Bill: On Tuesday, the House Higher Education Committee turned down HB 1027 by a vote of 3 yes, 12 no. The bill (text: http://www.lsb.state.ok.us/2001-02HB/HB1027_int.rtf) called for institutional governing boards to ensure that faculty are notified, in writing, of the reasons for any change in their employment status.
Senator Issues Press Release on Student Credit Card Debt: On Thursday, Senator Robert Milacek (R – Waukomis) issued a press release urging the State Regents to address concerns about student credit card debt and encouraging higher education institutions to end their financial relationships with credit card companies.

Governor Names Two to McCurtain County Trustee Board: On Thursday, Governor Keating announced the appointment of Mary Hodge and Louis Coleman, both of Idabel, to the Board of Trustees for the McCurtain County Higher Education Program. Senate confirmation is required.
