CollegeED Workshops
Help Students Reach Their College Goals
Oklahoma GEAR UP fully understands that preparing students for college takes more than just a course, class or school period. For students to reach their college entrance and degree completion goals it takes a solid game plan and a strong team effort among school administrators, counselors, teachers, parents and, of course, students.
That’s why GEAR UP has teamed up with College Board to offer a one-day workshop explaining the CollegeEd program.
CollegeEd is an academic and career planning curriculum for students, teachers and parents. It is designed to help students understand that a college education is possible and to learn how to achieve success in higher education.

To help your school get started, GEAR UP is offering a workshop on the CollegeEd academic and career planning curriculum. The workshop is FREE to GEAR UP-eligible school districts.
The workshop will outline the CollegeEd materials to participants and demonstrate how easily the program can be implemented as part of a pre-existing course or as a single course.
Through CollegeEd, teachers will be given tools to help students learn planning, time management, organizational and study skills as well as learn methods to motivate students to study harder, set goals and focus on success. CollegeEd participants will be able to help students, along with their families, develop an academic plan and take practical steps toward charting their college and career paths.
CollegeEd can:
- Help all children -- whatever their talents find a way to go to college.
- Reinforce efforts to raise academic standards.
- Give students practical advice on exploring individual learning styles and inspire them to study hard, set goals and think big.
- Teach students planning, time management, organization and study skills.
- Involve parents in children’s academic plans
