College [ G ] Where students study after high school to earn degrees – similar to a university
Hoosplat [ P ] Interplanetary sport played by Kyra
Zartrog [ E ] Interplanetary life form recognizable by its distinctive sound – “moink”
Degree [ J ] A title conferred on students by a college, university or professional school
Young Human Life Forms [ M ] Children of the Earth
Campus [ L ] The grounds and buildings of a university, college or school
Financial Aid [ F ] Money to help pay for college
Scholarships [ B ] Financial aid given to a student to pay at least part of the cost of college. It can be awarded based on students’ academic achievements or many other factors.
Work Study [ N ] Programs that allow students to work part time during the school year as part of their financial aid. The jobs are usually on campus and the money earned is used to pay for tuition or other college charges.
Grant [ I ] Financial aid given to a student to pay at least part of the cost of college. It does not have to be repaid.
Loan [ K ] Financial aid available to students and parents. It must be repaid. In many cases, payments do not begin until the student finishes school.
Tuition [ H ] Payment students make to cover costs of their classes at colleges and universities. Other fees may be required.
Fees [ O ] Costs that are not associated with the student’s course load, such as costs of some athletic activities, clubs and special events.
OHLAP [ C ] Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program – will help 8th-, 9th- and 10th-grade students pay for their college education if their family’s income does not exceed $50,000 a year. Students must be committed to succeeding in school by making good grades, being a good citizen and staying out of trouble.
GEAR UP [ A ] Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs – a federally funded program designed to help students better prepare for college.
