Thackerville Public Schools is receiving $12,500 to partner with Southeastern Oklahoma State University for “College Bound.” They are implementing the LOGIC program and continuing to offer the Ruby Payne program. In addition, grant monies provide open houses to inform parents about assessments and to promote Oklahoma’s Promise. Also, the grant funds college prep workshops to increase student and parent awareness of financial aid, scholarships and concurrent enrollment. Representatives from SOSU distribute program and enrollment information during the meetings. Grant funds also provide imonthly career days for fourth- through sixth-grade students with job-related activities implemented within the classroom. Middle school and high school students can tour community facilities and college campuses.
