Lawton Public Schools The State Regents’ GEAR UP Program is awarding $143,500 in college access subgrants to seven Lawton schools so that they can strengthen college preparation efforts in their community. The grant recipients have adopted at least one of the following research-based, student intervention programs.
"GEAR UP Central Middle School” is implementing the Math Institute, Thinking Maps and LOGIC. In addition, the grant provides CollegeEd materials, which help students with college planning and career exploration.
"GEAR UP Eisenhower Middle School” is implementing the Advanced Math Institute, Ruby Payne’s aha! Process School Workshops and SREB’s Building and Leading Effective School Improvement Teams. In addition, grant funds are being used to expand academic counseling, host parent workshops, increase enrollment in Oklahoma’s Promise, conduct college campus tours, and provide ACT test prep and career exploration activities.

“GEAR UP Tomlinson Middle School” is implementing the Math Institute and LOGIC. In addition, grant funds are being used to offer information on Oklahoma’s Promise, career exploration activities, college campus tours, parent seminars, academic advising and ACT prep workshops.

In addition, grant funds are being used to expand academic counseling, host parent workshops, increase enrollment in Oklahoma’s Promise, conduct college campus tours and provide ACT test prep and career exploration activities.
“GEAR UP MacArthur High School” is implementing the Math, Science and Advanced Science institutes. In addition, grant funds are being used to implement the AVID program and offer information on Oklahoma’s Promise, career exploration activities, college campus tours, parent seminars, academic advising and ACT prep workshops.
