Agra Public Schools is partnering with Southeastern Oklahoma State University for “Committing to College Readiness and High Expectations.” They are using the $20,500 grant to implement the Math Institute, CollegeEd, Ruby Payne’s aha! Process School Workshops and SREB’s Building and Leading Effective School Improvement Teams. In addition, grant monies are funding workshops to educate students and parents about the importance of postsecondary education, assessment tests, Oklahoma’s Promise and financial aid. Eighth- through 10th-grade students who turn in an Oklahoma’s Promise application receive a “Bearcat Bound for College” T-shirt. Also, grant funds are providing college campus tours, career awareness activities and ACT prep workshops.
