Subgrants to GEAR UP Phase I School Districts

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education is pleased to announce the availability of subgrant funds for school districts that commit to implement the LOGIC Professional Development Program.

The LOGIC Professional Development Program is linked to the State Regents’ GEAR UP project objectives. The project objectives are: (1) increase the academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education for students; (2) increase the rate of high school graduation and participation in postsecondary education for students; (3) increase students’ and families’ knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation and financing.

Applicants MUST participate in the LOGIC Professional Development Program for implementation with subgrant funds. The LOGIC Professional Development Program is a sequence of workshops is designed to provide 12 days of intensive professional development over the summer of 2009 that focuses on educational leadership, guidance and curriculum. The training is designed for school leadership teams (including administration, teachers and counselors) committed to creating a culture of high expectations. The LOGIC workshops integrate elements from ACT’s Educational Planning and Assessment System; the College Board’s training for Advanced Placement teachers; and the Southern Regional Leadership Board’s (SREB) Leadership Initiative modules.

Oklahoma public school districts or sites that provide services to students in grades 7-12 are eligible to apply for College Access Subgrant funds if:

To apply for the subgrant, the school district will be required to complete application documents, which are available below.

The submission deadline is March 6, 2009. The grants will be awarded in 2009.

Download the application form and complete and mail one original application and three copies in sufficient time to meet the submission deadline. No e-mail or fax copies will be accepted. Each submission should be concise and clearly written and should contain the following information:

Complete proposals must be received by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education by March 6, 2009. Earlier submission is acceptable and encouraged.
