People Builders is partnering with Tulsa’s McLain High School of Science and Technology and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for “Continuous Academic Preparation Service” (CAPS).

The project utilizes controlled social networking sites, community newspapers and local radio stations to explain the benefits of Oklahoma’s Promise. Outreach efforts extend to ninth- and 10th-grade students and their parents through meetings and home visits to help enroll eligible students in Oklahoma’s Promise.

In addition, the project works with the OSU Division of Institutional Diversity to provide college aspiration activities for high school students and families, including a campus visit to OSU in Stillwater. The subgrant also funds a college fair event to help students and parents learn about other financial aid and scholarship opportunities as well as a job shadowing day to showcase professions that require a college degree.
