Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Theta Upilson Omega Chapter

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Theta Upsilon Omega Chapter is continuing its program by partnering with Lawton High School, the LHS Parent-Teacher Association, the Lawton branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Lawton Ministerial Alliance and Cameron University Open Doors to increase the number of students enrolling in Oklahoma’s Promise and strengthen the academic performance of  ninth- and 10th-grade students.

The sorority and local churches will host events for parents and students to complete Oklahoma’s Promise applications. The project will also provide college campus tours and presentations from college students currently receiving Oklahoma’s Promise benefits. In addition, the project will provide parent and student workshops to raise student expectations and parental involvement.
